Intertrust claims 15 patents infringed
The outfit has sued Apple for infringing 15 patents relating to security. We are amazed as this because we thought that Apple depended on legions of fanboys chanting “the death of Steve Jobs protects us from the sin of Malware” and “Viruses only happen on Microsoft machines” to protect them from security threats.
The lawsuit covers devices such as the iPhone and iPad, Mac computers and laptops, Apple TV and services including iTunes, iCloud and the Apple App Store, Intertrust said. Actually the patents appear to be related to digital rights management software, which is used to protect and manage content rights for companies that distribute music, movies and other digital content.
Microsoft, Samsung, Nokia and HTC are licensees for Intertrust technology patents. Talal Shamoon, Intertrust`s chief executive officer, said in the statement that Apple makes many great products that use Intertrust`s inventions. The company apparently finds it "regrettable" that it is forced to seek court assistance to resolve the matter.
