The Internet of Things (IoT): Creating Magical User Experiences
MEMS Executive Congress® US 2013
November 7-8, 2013
The Meritage Resort & Spa, Napa, CA
An annual executive forum promoting the commercialization of MEMS
IoT is all about data. It encompasses the process of collecting, transporting and massaging massive amounts of data for a single purpose: to improve our lives through technology.
If you travel in technology circles, it’s hard not to hear about IoT. People talk about how it's coming and how it will be huge in 2020 with 20, 50 or even 100 billion connected devices. The truth is that IoT is here today, with one big caveat from the user’s point of view: its fragmentation.
If we do not fix the usability issues related to fragmentation of our current devices, there won't be large-scale public adoption, and IoT will be just another fad. But if successful in bringing the users on board, by giving them incredible “magical experiences,” we will actually see trillions of connected devices by 2020.
In his MEMS Executive Congress presentation, “The Internet of Things (IoT): Creating Magical User Experiences,” Dr. Luc Julia, vice president, Open Innovation Center, Samsung Electronics, will describe how IoT will come together to create a universal software ‘glue’ in the cloud, enabling a more satisfying user experience that will define our interactions with technology for years to come.
“The Internet of Things is making our collective dreams of human-machine interactions a reality,” said Dr. Julia. “It is transforming decades of popular science fiction from movies, books, comics and television into the here and now. MEMS technology will continue to play an essential role in this transformation.”
MEMS Executive Congress attendees will get the chance to engage with Dr. Julia during the Q&A immediately following his presentation.
