This reminds me of something regarding 2 discussioins at the SHM...side bar.
Before the meeting, I talked to Pat about the patent application process. I asked questions about the length of time, procedures, non final rejections, RCE's etc.
The long and short of it is, in his words, "they don't rubber stamp anything. Instead of the examiner figuring out claim by claim and deciding yes or no, they say no, reject it, ask questions of clarification requiring us to explain what is already there, but from a different angle. It's tedious with lots of red tape."
After the meeting I chatted with Kevin. The 1st thing I said was, "thank you for all the hard work, doing your part of the new patent filings with Pat. I'd hate to think what our future would be without new IP being developed."
He further explained how difficult it was to word each claim and the time it took. It has to be perfect and if not, you start over. Paraphrased...
From these conversations and previous chats with Fred, I have a better appreciation what it takes to bring new IP online.
Now we face the uphill battle to license it, with Handal's involvement.
Nov 13 PR:
e.Digital’s litigation activities have created an awareness in the industries and among current licensees, of our Nunchi and microSignet patents and have opened the door for serious licensing discussions for those patents, leading us to expand our relationship with Handal & Associates.
