Reporter Larry Himmel of KFMB Channel 8, was one of those I knew who lost his home. He was even reporting the fires a few houses away from his own, watching it burn down. His news piece went nation wide...he's a gutsy professional to have had the courage and composure to pull this off...those that know him personally were amazed. He later appeared on Ellen sharing the "event."

Larry came into this little sports place close to his home about 4 or 5 days later, just to say hi to us.

He walked up to me, I said,"hey Larry, how are you Man?" Gave him a hug and he cried on my shoulder.... he then said, "Joe, we even lost our kitty."

2 years later, he got back into his home. We saw him now and then and he'd update us about all the red tape involved with insurance, contractors, you name it.

Another friend of mine, Dennis, was so distraught, he used drinking to "ease his pain" and it killed him....literally.
