"In our base case, we assume that Apple utilizes an embedded secure element, providing an opportunity for NXP to win both the NFC controller and secure element sockets in the iPhone," Hettenbach wrote in the report. "In addition, we think Apple introduces its mobile payment system in iPhones with fingerprint detection capability such as the 5S, 5c and 6. Assuming average selling prices of 75 cents each for the controller and secure element, our base-case NFC opportunity is around $250 million in sales and 25 cents in EPS for 2015."
