"(1) When the Hero3 is set to operate “looping mode” and once the internal memory card in the Hero3 is full, the Hero3 displays the message that “Not Enough SD Card Space”. The Hero3 is advertised to continue recording by overwriting the oldest data on the memory card. This feature does not operate as advertised."
sman...for flash media....data is not managed with overwrite like a typical hard drive, flash is not an overwrite media.. This is the problem for flash, data previously programmed into cells must be flashed to a neutral state prior to new data being programmed into the same cells....This is one of the issues that e.Digital has addressed with its OS background management of data..
As for GOPRO having a loop play in controlling the background erase (or flash) blocks and previously recorded data that’s their problem.
Background data management aside, what e.Digital is prosecuting for (108 claim 1) is the method of initially writing data to the flash…or the I/O…utilizing claim term b cache of 108 claim 1. They are handing initial data input / output in the same manner e.Digital has patented, how they manage that data from that point within the flash is anyone’s guess. The condition that e.Digital is pointing at for infringement is the cache and the initial wrapping of data prior to it being programmed(written) into the flash.
