"This is an classic example of what edig may be in a time sooner than most of us would have thought."
What does an initiative like that have to do with e.Digitals proprietary IP?
Each member of that consortium has its own proprietary IP unrelated to the bank of Nortel IP being offered…. and will guard their own proprietary IP just as vigilantly as e.Digital is.
As It looks, e.Digital could join the consortium and get access to the offerings if it wished.
“Syndicate participants in turn get non-exclusive licenses, as will any other companies that want to buy licenses.”
Is there anything of the Nortel IP that e.Digital might want to take advantage of?
It’s kind of like a standards initiative, without identifying it as such.
That is, of course, if one can believe this statement: “Syndicate participants in turn get non-exclusive licenses”
Where I would consider that the “Syndicate”(30 companies) have a bit more pull than “non-exclusive” rights and what rights others get.
