Stealing is definitely a business plan that many adopt. In GoPro's case they would have had to posses much more up front capitial to get the business started the right way and pay for the patents of others. Instead, they stole to create an interesting product, sold the sizzle of the product to the uninformed public and the underinformed investing community and now are going to either pay for the patents and/or legal fees on the backs of their investors with tons of shares in their pockets. It is almost impossible to borrow enough money with an unproven product idea, but when a company goes public the investors effectively loan them the money that they could not borrow early on and now will pay the price by the stock getting clocked. IMHO
