''''Embedding the MulitiMediaCard (MMC) controller in a single chip package removes the need to develop interface software for each type of NAND flash. The MMC controller addresses the potential NAND design concerns internally, using error correction code (ECC), wear levelling, and bad block management technology. Handling errors internally takes the burden off the host controller and increases the speed, providing higher system performance. The benefits of eMMC to host smartphone makers are a simpler product design and qualification process and a shorter time to market overall. It also allows multiple sourcing as eMMC is an industry standard. The eMMC is an industry-wide term, but there are some different dialects: Samsung calls its product moviNAND; Hynix calls its product e-NAND; Sandisk (SNDK US, Not rated) uses SD card controller instead of MMC, and calls its embedded NAND products iNAND.''''

funy, I was thinking we were going after SSDs due to them being primary a secondary storage. The iNAND is embedded with all the flash controler goodies.
