IOT is my favorite, great description, so vague it includes anything and everything. It just means that many things are becoming connected to each other through the cloud. A thing can be your car or your home lighting controller, personal devices, your tv.

For example, when my land line rings at home my tv tells me who is calling. Pretty soon your frig is going to call the supermarket and milk will show up at your door. And so more and more things are connected.

It is really all about wifi and near field communications. Makes it cheap to connect all of your things.
