Sorry to be the bombthrower, but it sure did bring up some great discussion. If it just makes one or two of us ready to contact their congressmen and talk about the inherent unfairness of this and its impact on the smallish inventor, innovator (as you did so well in your post doni) my job will have been done lol.

I share your frustration with the joining in on the IPR, the statute laws should be the law there is no middle ground for making a good effort. that is simply rule bending to benefit the rule breaker.
