Man oh man, Microsignet blurb on Edigital website has fingerprints all over it. This just looks like a method to arrive at the same conclusion - detectable differences in manufactured chips.
From the website "microSignet relies on the physics which drives static and dynamic semiconductor individualities".
We obviously don't go into as much detail as the Mitsubishi articel so it is difficult to tell - possibly a thorugh reading of the patent would shed some light.
