FedEx Wipes Out IpVenture’s Shipment-Tracking Patent

Law360, San Diego (November 23, 2015, 10:04 PM ET) -- Handing a win to FedEx, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board invalidated IpVenture’s shipment-tracking patent on Friday upon finding that some of the claims were anticipated by prior art while the remaining claims were obvious.

The three-member panel determined that FedEx Corp. was able to show by a preponderance of the evidence that claims 1-30 of California-based patent licensor IpVenture Inc.’s U.S. Patent Number 8,725,165 B2 were unpatentable.
