The BOD should have manned up and it should not be a Chapter 7.  FF should have been gone and a new CEO hired. Then secured a partner to invest some cash and build the products that Fred for reasons only known to Fred-Refused to Build!

Yes, we are all angry that Fred and Co. stole our investment whose time had come!  The market had finally caught up with our "future defining" tech!
