It would be interesting to know how many customers are included in this first run testing. Obviously, the more the merrier. However, if only one customer bites the EDIG apple hard, we should see some upside to the pps in the days and months following an announcement.
IMO, while the dollars are still months away, the actual announced deal -- if and when it happens -- will not have the same effect as past prognostications....not because of EDIG`s sorted past, but because this is a ``Show Me The Money`` marketplace today.
CES notes:
* No ``Powered by EDIG`` labels to be found. IMO, a good thing. Sell closed sytems with content. Sell lots of `em. Selling into large retail is not for the meek. They may inherit the earth, but they will get their butt kicked in Minneapolis, Richmond, Seattle, or Bentonville.
* Check out http://www.control4.com/ Very Slick with lots of upside in the real retail world -- as apposed to the home automation custom houses that are not known for popular pricing strategies.
* Portable DVAP are going to get hot. Big Box retail buyers like the category if the video / TV content continues to be more and more available on the fly. Price points will slide by summer as new product hits the streets.
* I hope Willy got a chance to go through TI, Intel, and MS exhibits. Lots of new products -- both finished goods and pieces parts.
* Don`t buy a plasma or LCD TV until you see the new stuff from Samsung, LG, and Phillips. These guys have it dialed in at several price points, IMO. New toys for a new house.
* No Bobbin` Head `ole Fred sightings. I guess he is still workin` on that paper jam.
