Teague will be celebrating 60 years
in the aviation business at this year’s
Expo. The Seattle-based industrial
design firm has been working
with Boeing since 1946,
creating visionary architecture
and interiors for
the 707, 737, 747, 757,
767, and most recently the
record-breaking 777 and
the revolutionary 787.
Known for its distinct,
imaginative concepts and collaborative
design style, Teague’s latest
project is a partnership
with Panasonic, to
help design the new
Personal Media
Player (PMP),
which goes into
service with
Mexican Airlines
this April. The PMP
is a self-contained
entertainment device that
provides hours of personalized
movies, music and
games to onboard passengers.

Phantom Media will present
Bluebox – an advanced, affordable
hybrid IFE system delivering ondemand
digital content, deep data
capture, WiFi connectivity and much
more besides. Bluebox delivers
upwards of 160 hours of multilanguage
video content plus
hundreds of hours of digital audio.
Premium content includes advanced
gaming, virtually live video news and
new Worldview interactive 3D flight
maps. According to Phantom, benefits
include low cost of ownership,
ultra low weight, future-proof
evolution with new technology, and
revenue-generating pay-per-view
capability. But that’s not all: Bluebox
is an authentically wireless system; its
low heat output and low energy consumption
translate to substantial fuel
savings over wired systems; all content
is secure; it supports the latest
games; its open system architecture
allows easy data loading and update
of content and graphics; it is proven
rugged and reliable in rigorous field
testing; and it provides deep data
capture to identify user trends and
individual passenger profiling.
IMS Inflight will present its Personal
Entertainment Appliance, a portable,
handheld IFE unit already in service
with a number of airlines, including
American, Eos, Harmony, Varig,
Excel, and others. IMS offers a range
of portable solutions that include
hardware, content, and content
management in a turnkey package.
The company will also feature its
embedded data loading solution, the
Terminal Data Loader (TDL), which
it claims is driving the industry’s
migration from portable data loading
to embedded data loading. Led by
American Airlines, British Airways,
and Virgin America, airlines are turning
to embedded data loading to support
digital delivery’s increased data
requirements and security specifications.
IMS Inflight’s TDL (pictured)
supports portable media from removable
hard drives (RHDD) through AIT
tapes, DVDs, CDs, and USB 2.0 memory
sticks, and also supports GSM,
CDMA and 802.11 gate connections.
