Have to disagree on some of the issues. All sports are important, it`s the competition that I enjoy be it tennis, golf, vollyball, softball, and the big three, etc.
I personally think some of the conferences are overrated in the major sports, it`s a function of the sports writers and many of them are in the Eastern part of the US. Likewise most of them rarely watch the West coast because of the time difference.
The acid test for the major sports is how many end up in the pros. That tells you which of the conferences have the best and most likely the best teams.
And like I stated when all of this conversation started, the LA area, the Trojans and Bruins have more national championships than any other two colleges. And that is in most of the major sports and many of the so called minor sports as well. That shows the strength of the conference, even if it is only one or two teams that dominate, they do meat the other what you state as the b est conferences.
Just my opoinion, as a now Texan, but former Socal sports nut.
