April 19, 2006 – TRANSATLANTIC business-only operator MAXjet Airways says it achieved its first ever 100 per cent load factor on a flight at the end of last month.
The carrier, which flies to New York and Washington DC from London Stansted and includes digEcor handheld IFE players in its service offering, says it averaged load factors of more than 50 per cent in March, reaching nearly 70 per cent in the latter part of the month. It claims April bookings will yield 70 per cent for the month on the New York route, and says that May and June bookings also look strong.
MAXjet launched its four-times-weekly London-Washington DC service on April 3, supplementing the original six-times-weekly service to New York.
“We are currently negotiating for our third and fourth planes,” says CEO Gary Rogliano. “Our future bookings aside, the quality of our product is endorsed by our first passenger survey - some 87 per cent of our customers found the experience very good or excellent, and 95 per cent said they would probably fly with us again.”
MAXjet’s Boeing 767-200ERs are configured with 102 business-class seats located at 60in pitch and capable of reclining almost flat; there are no middle seats. As well as the digEplayers, the service offering includes pre-departure drinks, multi-course meals and a chef’s pantry. Standard round-trip fares start at $1,750.
