Our economy is busted. Yes, busted. The U.S. government is addicted to deficit spending and we have reached a point that there is no more money available nor can the fed. gov't borrow any more money. So what do they do, they just print more money and that destroys the value of the dollar on the foreign exchange.
If you go to your search engine and type in U.S. National Debt you will find that it shows close to 11 trillion dollars, but that's not the whole story. There is another 42 trillion dollars that are not showing on the debt clock.
$11 trillion is the government liabilities
$8 trillion is owed to Social Security
$26 trillion is the cost of Medicare/medicaide
$8 trillion for medical insurance
$1 trillion is owed to foreign countries for trade deficit.
Our government is addicted to deficit spending as I said.
We have a budget deficit
We have a loan interest deficit
We have a trade deficit
We have a program deficit (med.)
We have a commitment deficit (Medicare/medicaide)
And the worst of all, we have a Leadership deficit
Most of the leadership in D.C. does not know how to solve the problems we are facing and the few that do understand the problem and may know how to fix the problem but do not have the courage to stand up and be heard.
Let me give you an example: In the past 40 years we have had 35 years of severe deficit spending and only 5 years of a balanced budget. The government is living and spending way beyond it's means. They take in about 13.5 trillion dollars every year in various types of taxes. That's money that you and I provide the government to operate and take care of this once great nation. Our total deficit is now at 53 trillion dollars. That means that our debt is almost 4 times as large as our income and it is growing at an alarming rate. There is, in addition to the $700 billion bailout already passed, another $825 billion bailout about to be approved by the senate. That's a total of 1.525 trillion dollars that the government has thrown at the economy to create new jobs and save companies that have been mis-managed by their CEO.
Most of the financial experts are saying that bailouts will not save the economy and the federal government is only adding to the already existing economical problem. However, this has been the way the government has been doing business for the past 60 years. They can't solve problems when the only way they know how to handle things is to pay their way out of the problem.
We are no longer the strongest nation in the world and we are no longer the leaders of the free world. We are still passing out foreign aid to help other countries that can't help themselves when we can't even help our own country because we have no leadership.
We have just elected a new president....etc and all the support people that he has appointed. Some of those people should be up on changes of a felony and some should be behind bars. This new president has made many promises of which some have already been broken. There is pork galore attached the $825 billion bailout bill and he will sign that bill if it gets to his desk, but he promised there will be no more attached programs (pork) to any house bill. He has appointed people to some very high position that can't even run their own lives without getting into trouble. Change is what we were promised and change is what we're going to get. We will wind up with a socialistic government before his first term is over. Our economy will no long matter, because everything you now have will belong to the government and we will all be working for the government. All our homes, savings accounts, retirement accounts...etc will be attached by the government and we will be given an allowance, if we are lucky.
I suggest that if you would like to get some more insight into our economical condition, go to www.DeficitsDoMatter.org and watch the two videos that are posted. It takes some time to load up and it takes some time to watch the videos to completion. It will however give you some first hand knowledge about what condition the U.S.A. is in and it is sickening to think about the consequences and the future of this once great nation. God Help Us All.
