A simple explanation of the Medicare Prescription Part "D" program.

The program is a three part payment process.

1) Up to $2700. your cost is based on a co-pay, an amount for the individual and the remainder payed by the plan, up to $2700.00 total, individual plus plan amounts.

2) the individual pays the total cost of the drugs until out of pocket expense total $4350.00, the "doughnut hole". This excludes the amount payed by the plan.

3) The individual pays a small amount, depending on the iplan, approximately 5% for brands and zero dollars for generic drugs.
