Ah! Glad to know there's someone on this board with some class. :>)
Pavarotti lip sync'd this last performance.....but we can forgive him for that. At this stage in his life, he couldn't take the chance of doing it live. A B flat in that register is pushing the envelope for any tenor let alone one whose health has deteriorated considerably.
It was his voice and it was beautiful.
I've seen Turadot a number of times. My man Puccini can flat out write...eh? :>)If you've never seen the opera performed, read a synopsis of the opera on line. Most operatic plots are simplistic and melodramatic but it's the music that really counts.
Are you familiar with Madama Butterfly? A dear musician friend who's no longer with us used to say that you need an "emotional adjustment" after experiencing Butterfly. :>)
