For reasons we all understand, this tool was made available for Agoracom's purposes, and our use to reduce if not eliminate, multiple aliases. So far, it has come in handy once at EDIG, to the best of my memory. It has also stopped the accusations that certain EDIG posters had multiple user names, talked amongst themselves, voted and thumbed each other etc. I wonder if they PM'd themselves...hahahaha. So, this tool ended that subject.

For the most part, these chat rooms consist people who have never met, nor even talked on the phone. A few have gotten to know each other at CES, SHM's etc, but the percentage appears small. Cyber friendships have evolved as a result....no sight, sound or body language to aid in determining one's purpose to be here. We give each other the benefit of the doubt, until proven otherwise.

What appeared to be innocent recently, ended up with three user names with the same IP address. Questions were asked publically and privately, post history was reviewed, and something did not add up. Some HL's shared thoughts, and as it turned out, all three were banned.

If this poster was mis-judged, he/she can take it up with Agoracom, make sense of it all, and have one of the user names reinstated, or start fresh. In the mean time, this forum is going to protect itself from what looks to be abuse of the system Agoracom has in place.

Opinions on this topic is appreciated.
