Without taking sides, I'll enlighten you with my thoughts. I look and sometimes post on boards without owning stock. it's a way of finding what the current shareholderrs think about their company.
i also attend shareholders meetings in the area where I live if I have an interest in the company while not owning stock. It's a place to start your investigation and I always do that before buying any stock in addition to doing as much DD as is available in my search.
