Potash Corp and Agrium shopping for acquisitions

TORONTO (Reuters) - Top fertilizer producers Potash Corp of Saskatchewan (POT.TO: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) and Agrium Inc (AGU.TO: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) said on Thursday they are eyeing acquisitions as prices for target companies fall.

Agrium Inc (AGU.TO: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) chief financial officer Bruce Waterman said the global economic downturn has led to companies being available at "distressed prices."

Both Waterman and Potash Corp of Saskatchewan (POT.TO: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) CFO Wayne Brownlee were speaking at a TD Newcrest Agricultural conference.
