btw....anyone noticed the 2010 phosphate summary on the USGS? Looks like US phosphate production declined more than expected....30mm mt in '08 & 27mm mt in '09.

World production was higher than I was thinking: 161mm mt in '08 & 158mm mt in '09 (after shutdowns during recession). With all new mines on horizon, USGS is predicting about 209mm mt world production by 2013. They predict US production to keep declining. World will most likely break previous record so we can't say we're past peak production.

These numbers include all grades of P2O5. Looking randomly from the long! USGS survey...they vary from 6%-9% in afghanistan, 24% in algeria, 40% in zaire, 5%-32% in australia, 6-26% in china. The Mosaic purchase in Peru is at 30%. Except for a couple , I didn't see any quality above 32% (not counting product from the 90s). I just checke and Legend quality varied from 10-28%. Industry benchmark used to be 30% but quality has decreased.
