Developing phosphate interests in the Georgina Basin, Queensland, Australia
Message: A theory
You bring up some interesting points and I'm sure that once the project gets closer to reality that there will be alot of wheeling and dealing going on behind the scenes with either Wengfu or all the other interested "bigger fish" that might look to take out LGDI.
A question I ask myself is would Gutnick actually have to run the fertilizer business? I'm thinking the way it may play out is that he would look to partner with Wengfu and have them run the business, taking a major equity stake, as we all would hope they might. After all they are the people with the real expertise and experience in running a project of this proportion anyway.
As we know by the Mosaic news, phosphate reserves are becoming more scarce and with the favorable location of the LGDI reserves in Austrailia it just seems to be a given that LGDI would be a takeover canadidate. Their reserves are almost limitless.
What I'm a little fuzzy on is how a buy-out or take over would play into the picture with Wengfu or the Austrailian gov.? It seems to me that LGDI is sitting in a wonderful position going forward once the project moves into the realm of being financed and moves into the build-out stage of the plants. I think LGDI becomes an much more viable takeover target the closer they get to production. The price get higher as time marches on.
