Yesterday morning I posted, "Mining stocks in general are solidly higher at present, including much of the exploration sector." The same applies today.

In spot markets, precious metals prices are higher and base metals are lower, even as buyers of shares of producers and explorers contradicts the sentiments in spot markets. Having said that, the COPX (an index of copper producers) was lower earlier based largely, I think, on some rounds of bad news from Freeport. At the moment, however, COPX is in recovery mode, being down only a third of one percent, and it looks as if it could go green for the day after all.

Meanwhile, stocks in general are taking beating.
