In Arizona this spring we have noticed a damatic fall in cars/tourists visiting from Canada. This season I see almost no license plates from Canada, when they are usually quite thick around here this time of year. In fact, and in prior years, a large part of our housing market has been dominated by Canadians, mostly as seasonal residents (buyers and renters).
Not this year with the gross exchange rate disparity. Having said that, I just learned that some parts of Canada are experiencing a boom is residential real estate. Especially impacted is Vancouver and the adjoining Frazer Valley.
Part of the reason seems to be money from China, as it is easier for Chinese to enter Canada than the US. A spill-over effect, I think, is more money becoming available for exploration mining, as Vancouver is also THE money center for such in North America.
Who knew about this bubble in Canada? Not me.
