In regards to nothing in particular, I'd also like to remind all that trading in this issue has been especially thin. That being the case, no entity/entities who would be interested in taking down a large position/positions could do so from the open market without pushing the PPS far higher to their own detriment. Participating in a PP avoids this complication, and makes getting in under these circumstances attractive - it's motivating. I also think it carries a stealthy capacity to push the PPS much higher in a delayed reaction, which is likely to become apparent around the time of news on drilling, or shorly thereafter.
And, as pointed out elsewhere, this will be better for shareholders than "diluting" Hay Mountain with a partner at this time, assuming drilling meets with success.
