Futures prices, though market oriented, are bets on the future.  They may, or may not reflect sentiment about current conditions.  Speaking of current conditions, the spot price of copper is off this morning, and to 3.01. 

As to precious metals, they are up today, with gold ON THE ASK having broken above 13 hundred for a time - a couple of dollars lower now.
