Question: "Tracy - Are Liberty Star's claims included within the acreage that Asarco is seeking to have removed from the Ironwood National Monument? Is Liberty Star able to disclose whether it has coordinated with Asarco at all on the monument? "
Answer: We have a great longtime relationship with ASARCO, but cannot get into any specifics prior to formal agreements filed with the SEC. We do not know anything specifically about the ASARCO request beyond what their comment letter to the DOI says. Their letter is detailed and runs 94 pages long. It is publicly released and can be viewed at:
https://www.regulations.gov/document?D=DOI-2017-0002-391492 They do have a map of their requested unpatented lode mining claims that they would like to explore under Tab 2.
As stated on our website: "The East Silverbell Porphyry Copper Project is within the Silverbell Mining District located northwest of Tucson, Arizona. Asarco Mining LLC currently operates open pit copper mines in the area. Asarco has a solvent extraction electrowinning (SXEW) plant approximately 4 1/2 miles to the west of the East Silverbell Project property line." http://www.libertystaruranium.com/projects/east-silver-bell-porphyry-copper-project/
So we are close neighbors and have reason to keep the dialogue open. Fortunately, ASARCO's local offices are just a few minutes down the road from us here in Tucson.
Here is a sketch of where our properties are on a map of the IFNM area issued by Pima County. You can enlarge the map on our website:
