Not that I know what's going on, but SEC can come down pretty hard on a company that talks too much ahead of substantive news, on the supposition that they are clandestinely sharing coded insider information with a favored few.
In this case, I would prefer to think that "silence is golden", as compared to otherwise inconsequential mutterings released simply to reassure some that our CEO is alive and well. Such would come across to me as essentially meaning nothing is going on, and there will be no good news in the near term.
...just how I see it.
