A split of any sort can't happen without the approval of the shareholders, so it will not come about suddenly. If the board sends such a proposal for your vote, what option will you have when a "no" vote will most likely mean the end of the company?
That said, I expect it to happen, but not before news sends the share price higher. While many investors consider a reverse split to be bad news under any circumstances, that is not so. A reverse split under the very positive influence of improving conditions for the company is not likely to damage an individuals dollar investment, and it could mean improving returns, even as one is holding fewer shares.
