While there is undoubtedly disagreement from some quarters, especially from the political opposition, I think we are in the best of times.  And what we've been experiencing is likely to continue. 

Yes, our expansion is now the longest in history.  But that fact in itself is no reason to believe that the end is near.  The strongest support for this comes in the market for the US dollar, and why it is resented by oil traders elsewhere.  Oil trades in US dollars, and given our renewed dominance in oil production, attempts to change the currency in which it trades have failed.

The price of gold is also reflecting that the dollar is king because the dollar is seemingly stable against the price of gold.  It is not elsewhere.  This is singularly important because even if the world begins to enter recession, or worse, demand will rise for dollars, ensuring our continued economic security, at least through the next few years.

...not just my opinion, though I would classify our time as one of a "deflationary boom."
