I am often surprised at the type of people in Tucson who were against the Rosemont mine. It was not just "liberals" or anti-mining people per se. The area around the mine is known not just for being sacred Native American grounds but also for pristine natural beauty and good hunting. Again, I don't like politics here and this is NOT a political statement or my opinion. Hay Mountain, on the other hand, is pretty much hilly, rocky scrub desert that is not typically known for natural beauty, althouugh some true desert lovers might like it. I rode the claims with JB once and my opinion is that not too many people would get bent out of shape if there were mining there. So at least we can (probably) not have to worry about environmental objections.
