Why would BG give a shite? It is obvious that he doesn't deal with inquiry / accountability well - perhaps sees himself as "above" it (where have I heard that before?). When one doesn't defend their honor / competence / what have you, it "could" be a sign that such is absent.
Honestly, have you seen indications that shareholder perceptions (erroneous or not) (and, ergo, shareholders) matter at all?
Perhaps he is saving us money by not billing the company for 'Hours' spent crafting a Lawerly Dissertation full of passive-aggressive 'vigor'.
If you aren't delivering, it is not unreasonable for 'interested' parties to ask for an explanation / debrief.
A key lesson of Leadership is that the quality of followership is immensely important BUT . . . it is earned, not given, conserved, not squandered.
