I hope for the former, but suspect the latter. Except for the NDA comments- crickets. Not even the venerable "ongoing discussions with interested parties". But why not? Not that I am a fan of pointless fluff, but it wouldn't hurt to give some indication of progress. Unless there isn't any. 
There is no need for secrecy. 
There are no claims that are threatened and much that can be said that wouldn't impinge on an NDA. 
I think an update is warranted and long overdue.
