This is right (imo). For a long time I've been imagining the area as a metal plate, and under it are, first a few then more, small flames heating the plate. Each venture reported constitutes one of those small flames. As the plate heats every venture in the area begins to benefit. I've posted on this (over there) and of course have been ridiculed for the metaphor.
