You can earn activity points by filling your profile with information about yourself (what city you live in, your favorite team, blogs etc.)
That was my guess as well. But it certainly doesnt make it less frustrating. I can only imagine my (or anyone elses) frustration levels if I was wanting to sell out in a hurry.
