A fantastical jobs report out this morning, brought a black cloud to metals and mining markets today.

I find it very hard to accept these numbers. They have been successively improving for months, along with the revisions mid-month. If, in two weeks, we see another upward revision of something more than nominal, I will be forced to believe that the Department of Labor has been politicized. I say this because so many other economic indicators put our economy on the edge of recession.
For us, and despite a possible minor bruising today, discovery on the order of the Copper Queen or Bingham Canyon trumps everything. Major copper producers from around the globe will be bidding against each other for a piece of this and will mothball current operations to do so if they have to.
