BHP, Anglo American May Merge.  Why It Could Impact Rivals Freeport-McMoRan, Albemarle.

Of course, Freeport is headquartered in Phoenix and has multiple operations in Arizona and globally.  At some point—likely not soon—it could take an interest in Hay Mountain should future drilling results capture their attention. 

Similarly, BHP has been active in Arizona for many years and is a partner with Rio Tino in the developing mega-mine at Superior, AZ—the one that likely holds more copper than any deposit yet found on earth. 

To my understanding, Anglo American is not currently active within the continental U.S.
