Excelsior is in a partnership with a division of Rio Tinto - the largest miner on earth - in an experiment to improve the efficiency of processing ore. Progress has been excellent, and it may benefit mining in general, boosting profits and reopening old mines.
While Excelsior itself may be too small an operation to become a takeover target for Rio Tinto, some other major or mid-tier producers may want to think of doing so, depending on the results from the restart of mining at Johnson Camp.
I write this for information only. I do not own shares in Excelsior and never have.
