The government on Wednesday announced that the Eid al Adha holidays for public and private sectors will be from October 14 to October 17. Offices will reopen on October 20 after the weekend.

The dates were announced in separate decisions issued by H E Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal bin Saud al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court and chairman of the Civil Service Council, for the public sector, and H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Abdullah al Bakri, Minister of Manpower, for the private sector.

The statements said the holidays will be from Monday, Dhul Hijja 9, 1434AH, corresponding to October 14, till Thursday, Dhul Hijja 12, corresponding to October 17. Work will resume on Sunday, October 20. H E Bakri's decision for the private sector allowed employers and employees to agree on work arrangements and compensatory holidays, if the need arises.
