It is all part of the game. Wopers when you got something and what to keep it silent for a while longer. Sometimes to put the other company on a courious minded stance... But overall every one desires a personal level of credability and respect as it matters a lot for down the road considerations. It is only one in a hunderd that makes a gib splash if luck is with a company or individual. If someone gets pegged as untrustworthy then they are usually not in the industry for too much longer, so it is a bit of a game but within limits too.
