The grab samples or mmi's or what ever they are called now had a lot of cobalt and no there is no other play in the area that has mentioned cobalt to my knowledge.

When the NR was first released we were a little stunned to be honest. Myself and a few others had been into FCO for some time which is a cobalt play in Idaho so we have done a lot of DD on the mineral etc.. A year or 2 later we are involved with these plays and noticing the great variety of minerals in the area. It seemed that everywhere you turned there was a different mix ie VMS MMS etc.. but Probe had a great abundance of cobalt percolating up from below to surface. Probe even drew a diagram of what was occurring on the property. Of course there was a grab bag of minerals but where Nickel is dominant at Eagle 1 just a few hundred meters away, Probe comes up with a lot of cobalt.

Just like E2 with the chromitite. Whenever there is a hit I'm always curious to see if they find something new.

I don't believe you need do anything special for cobalt. I doubt that its like chrome where you require a nuclear reactor lol but as I recall the results came back from the lab in short order and the cobalt results were included.

I just copied a few uses for cobalt I thought I would paste to this post for anyone interested....:)

  • alloyed with iron, nickel and other metals to make Alnico, an alloy of unusual magnetic strength with many important uses (jet engines and gas turbine engines)
  • used in magnet steels and stainless steels
  • used in alloys used in jet turbines and gas turbine generators
  • used in electroplating because of its appearance, hardness, and resistance to oxidation
  • salts are used for the production of brilliant and permanent blue colours in porcelain, glass, pottery, tiles, and enamels
  • cobalt-60, an artifical isotope, is an important γ ray source, and is extensively used as a tracer and a radiotherapeutic agent. Single compact sources of 60Co are readily available
  • compounds are used as paint pigments
