Hi WtlessB,
Your outline is just bang on.
Ya, what's the big deal. Anyone of us here could probably do a better job. The slides were straight from the Sept 2013 Corp Presentation. Why bother spending the time on trivial slides like the disclaimer, etc., especially when you were short of time (last slot in the session before lunch). I would also skip the slide on the BoD and Management. But at least this gave me some clue that the preseter was probably the new COO. He said very quickly something about his background: "mining engineer and just joined about a few months ago". The COO NR was on 9 April 2013. I also heard "Thanks Michael" by the moderator, as indicated by Paschiliko.
There was a question from the audience wrt the potential minable deposit (in the pit) whether it would be less than the target 4.3Moz (2Moz, 3Moz?). The presenter did not seem to handle this "trick question" very well. It's fine to state the fact that PRB is now having a consulting firm to look at various options, open pit, underground and the combination of the two, and when to start the underground operation. But he could have painted a more positive picture by saying something like:
"If it is an open pit operation, PRB would start with constraint pit configuration to get the higher grade ore in the pit (over 1%) first, for some initial cash flow. The lower grade ore would be mined or stockpiled to be processed later when the POG is more favourable. But, yes 4.3 Moz is the target and the minable amount would be expected to be in the same ballpark figure. It could be more than 4.3Moz if we were to hit higher grades in the pit.
Now, with the discovery of the high grade zone (HGZ), we are adjusting our operation model to combine open-pit and underground operations which is expected to be a lot more profitable due to the much higher grades in the HGZ, which seems to extend quite a bit beyond the current boundary. Additional drilling on ice toward the other side of the lake is planned for the coming winter with 3? drills to define the extent of this HGZ..."
Then throw in in some pictures of core samples with some phenomenal grade, say something over 12.5gpt (see hole BL 13-384). If there is a sample with visible gold, then it would be much better, just flaunt it.
It's a good practice/presentation trick to have a few "sensational slides" at the end of your slide deck, after the "Thank You" slide for the audience to take away for their (exciting) discussion during lunch.
A picture is worth a thousand words! You don't need to say much, just say "look at those specks of gold" and the audience would remember it for a long long time.
Steve Jobs often pulled the trick "Oh, one more thing..." to say what the audience has been waiting for to hear...after his long presentation talking about "other stuff".
