"Freezing here in Nevada this morning at 1 degree/F" (i.e. only -17C)
How about -46C (-59C with wind chill) in Edmonton, Canada.
In Chapleau, the temperature for next week would be in the range -15C to -22C, which is just great for Dave. He would want Borden Lake to freeze fast. Thick ice is good thing for the platforms for some serious drilling. When the ice is judged "thick enough" one can take the car down, drill some holes with an auger... for ice fishing. Misjudgement could sometimes result in the car at the bottom of the lake.
Dave still has about 1000m to go before getting to the shore on the other side. From the results to-date, I would venture a 500m stepout for the first hole, and about 100m away from the shore for the second hole. Infill drilling can be done later.
If Dave has a JV with the forestry companies, then I would set another drill, for simultaneous drilling, on the JV land (or the 100% PRB land, just next to it). Bring in some deep drill rig, something that can do 1000 m depth. PRB has enough money ($32M) to do this.
In fact, it would be advantageous to have at least 2 drills for this winter drilling program. Winter (thick ice season) is too short in Borden Lake! We don't want global warming, at least not now.
My hunch is that there is more good stuff across the lake and down deep.
Some would say I am too optimistic and perhaps too impatient?
