Excerpts from old posts re: previous Jacobus East drilling in 1957... 10ft. quartz vein discovered... never assayed for gold... if you want to know where these holes were drilled see longbomb map here... a little S of current drill program but not that far.

Everything seems to indicate SGX Jacobus East is literally littered with quartz veins... SGX plans to intersect the gold-bearing ones they know about from surface exploration... sounds like good chance they may also intersect ones they didn't know about... what if this area is layer upon layer of stacked gold-bearing quartz veins near surface? Like that analogy quack... gold barber pole... really like the sound of that... Everybody's got a dream! LOL.

From Dec. 14th, 2007 NR:

"Preliminary results from the Jacobus property indicate a mag high on the southeast corner of the property that is contiguous with the northern extension of the mag high on Kodiak's Hercules property. Within this high is a northwest-trending low, which is interpreted by Sage to be a similar geophysical signature to the Kodiak Golden Mile quartz vein system. Jacobus Mining Corp. (1957) intersected a 10-foot-wide quartz vein within this mag low, which was not assayed for gold. Sage is currently moving equipment into this area in order to begin trenching both the quartz vein and the northwest-trending mag low. A grid of lines will also be cut for detailed ground geophysics and geological mapping. The Jacobus property is underlain mainly by intermediate pyroclastics that are intruded by the Elmhirst gabbroic intrusion."

"Nigel Lees, president and chief executive officer, stated: "We are very excited about the progress on all our Beardmore-Geraldton properties, especially in the light of the recent gold discovery by Kodiak and the implications for similar mineralization on our Jacobus property. Our aeromagnetic survey -- completed only last week on the Jacobus property -- shows that we have a magnetic signature similar to that on Kodiak's Hercules property to the south. Also, in government assessment files we see that historical drilling on the Jacobus property encountered quartz vein structures within a stratigraphy similar to the Golden Mile. We have accelerated our exploration program in order to determine if the high-grade mineralization extends onto our property."

1957 quartz

Great posts everyone. Your all making this board the most informative BB by far.

I am taking a peek at the drill log from 1957 at Jacobus. I would just paste it here, but don't want to violate any copyrights.

Being 1957 vintage stuff, it looks quite elementary for discription of rock type encountered, but from what I can gather it looks like JN-5 may be the hole SGX might be refering to, that quartz vein was encountered (although there is another one with quartz stringers).

The hole was drilled at a 45 degree angle, and took one week to drill to a depth of 482 feet. Quartz vein was encountered at 368 feet, with no new description of rock type until 482 feet.

Does this mean an intercept of quartz vein of 114 feet?... Maybe.... Who knows trig good, what would that be in true width?

That may be a huge vein, I'm not sure. Seems deep anyway.
