Quackster, not to beat that choice of words to death, but when I noticed that word I thought that it was unusual because it implies that the property increase is "huge" and not just by a couple of acreas. It makes me suspect that the word hectar[S] is involved.
The question is WHY? I can't help thinking that to dramatically increase the property's boundery lines translates into, "we don't want ANY land grabbers [large or small] anywhere near us. The question remains WHY? Possibly something else is involved or has been discovered or perhaps they just want a good buffer zone between what we have and the outside world. In any case, IMO, it is a 'huge hint'.
Your graphic analogy sounds good to me.
