hi function, its prudent to watch the buying and selling of insiders, and I agree, its dd to a certain extent. With me, I have learned not to put too much emphasis on insider trading. I used to watch it a lot, but to use it as a guide for investing, found it undependable. I made 2 bad moves that I can think of right off the top of my head, by watching the insider trading. One was with SPQ (spider) and the other GNH (golden hope mines), in both cases, I sold because of insider selling, only to see Spider to get bought out at a 300% premium in a matter of a few weeks later, and GNH to go from .23, where I sold at, to a high of .93 I think. So, the moral of the story is, dont rely on that too much, unless they all start buying or selling.
The other thing you have to keep in mind, is that the directors/employee,s in some companies, dont get paid that much and are usually compensated through stock options that they can buy and sell to help compensate their income. SLI has been good in that regard, whereas there has been little selling in the last while. Dont forget these people have to live to, and if you check their salaries in the MD&A, you will see that the salaries are not over the roof.
If I was a director, and all of a sudden, I needed a new car, I would say the most logical choice on where to get the money, would be to sell 20k shares or so, if I held millions. Why would I borrow the money and pay interest on that loan if I didnt have to. I,m sure anybody could think of lots of examples of reasons for an insider selling a few shares.
Don,t worry right now on that, there is probably enough value locked in from our other properties to support the sp close to where it is. There should be drilling starting soon on the Vilcoro and maybe another property or two.
